Weight Loss Surgery in Turkey - MedicalArtTurkey

Patient Complaints and Initial Findings

The patient, aged 37, with a height of 1.67 m and weighing 101 kg, applied to Medicalartturkey. He had complaints of high blood pressure and panic attacks. Tests conducted at our hospital revealed fatty liver.

Treatment Plan:

Based on the patient’s medical history, our Medicalartturkey doctor recommended Gastric Sleeve surgery. The operation lasted 1 hour and 15 minutes, slightly longer than the usual 40 minutes due to the patient’s liver condition.

Treatment Process:

From the moment Stefan arrived at the hospital for treatment:

Step 1:

  • General Surgery Consultation

  • Cardiology Consultation

  • Anesthesia Consultation

  • Pulmonology Consultation

  • Internal Medicine Consultation

Step 2: Laboratory and Radiology Tests

  • Alanine Aminotransferase (SGPT)

  • Aspartate Aminotransferase (SGOT)

  • Anti-HBs

  • Anti-HCV

  • Anti-HIV (ELISA)

  • Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (aPTT)

  • Blood Glucose (Fasting Blood Sugar)

  • HBsAg

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)

  • Blood Type and Rh Factor (Gel Centrifugation)

  • Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN)

  • Creatinine

  • Prothrombin Time (Coagulometer)

  • Free T4

  • Total Cholesterol

  • Triglycerides

  • TSH (Receptor Antibody)

  • Beta-HCG (Pregnancy Test in Women)

  • Echocardiography

  • Upper Abdominal Ultrasonography

  • Chest X-Ray

  • EKG

  • Additional Blood Tests for Type 2 Diabetes Surgery:

    • Hemoglobin A1C

    • C-Peptide

    • Postprandial Blood Sugar

After evaluating the results of all these tests, the patient underwent surgery on the same day in the afternoon. The surgery lasted about 1 hour and 15 minutes, and he was then moved to his room. (Stefan was anxious and scared before he arrived, but the video call we arranged with our doctor helped him relax significantly.)

Post-Treatment Recovery:

Stefan experienced mild nausea for about 2 hours on the first day after the surgery, though this is not common for everyone and reactions can vary among patients. On the second day, he felt much better and was satisfied with the liquid diet recommended by our dietitian. By the third day, he was feeling so good that we even took a trip to the Grand Bazaar. On the morning of the fourth day, we saw him off to his country in a healthy condition.

Patient Feedback:

Stefan lost 15 kg in the first month post-surgery. As you can see in the photos, he shared his experience through a video.

Before and After Photos:

Include the first photo taken when the patient arrived at the clinic, and post-treatment photos of the patient. Share X-rays or other imaging results if necessary. I will provide these.

Patient History and Risk Factors:

Given his age and existing conditions such as high blood pressure and fatty liver, surgery was necessary to reduce his risk of heart attack and promote a healthier lifestyle.

Post-Treatment Follow-Up and Recommendations:

After the treatment, we gifted the patient a 1-month protein package for his diet. Our dietitian provided him with detailed information on his nutritional needs. After the patient returned to his country, we maintained communication via phone and WhatsApp to monitor his eating habits and morale. On the 15th day post-surgery, our dietitian kept the patient's motivation high through video calls and regular check-ins. Although the follow-up period is 6 months, we continue to maintain contact with the patient.

Other Treatment Options:

While planning the treatment, a gastric balloon was considered as an alternative; however, it was deemed unsuitable due to the patient's eating habits. Gastric Sleeve was chosen to achieve more definitive results.
